Rural Support Trust Bay of Plenty has received a significant boost to its operations with the use of a Toyota Land Cruiser 70, sponsored by Pacific Toyota.

The new vehicle will help the Trust reach farmers, growers, and rural families across the region more efficiently, particularly in remote and hard-to-access areas.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Pacific Toyota for standing alongside our rural community and recognising the importance of the work we do,” said Rural Support regional co-ordinator Jodie Craig.

“This Land Cruiser 70 will allow us to be there when and where our communities need us most.”

The trust provides free, confidential support across three main areas: one-on-one support for individuals and families, community connection and wellbeing activities – such as financial workshops and Surfing for Farmers – and readiness and response during adverse events such as floods or biosecurity incursions.

“During recent flooding in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, staff had to navigate damaged rural roads to check on isolated farmers,” said Ms Craig.

“Now, with this vehicle, we can respond promptly to those who need us. It gives us confidence to respond quickly and safely.”

Pacific Toyota chief executive Chris Busseenschutt said the Rural Support Trust was involved in vital work, reaching people in some of the region’s most isolated areas, often in challenging conditions.

“We’re proud to provide them with a Toyota Land Cruiser 70 – a vehicle renowned for its toughness – to help them continue their essential work.”

The Land Cruiser will also support the trust’s community events and wellbeing workshops by transporting equipment and staff across the Bay of Plenty.

The vehicle features branding from the Rural Support Trust, Pacific Toyota, FMG, and Barfoot & Thompson, reflecting a collaborative commitment to strengthening rural communities.

The official handover took place at Pacific Toyota Tauranga, with representatives from Pacific Toyota, Miles Group and the Rural Support Trust attending.
