Ōpōtiki Rodeo rides into 2026

.

Always a highlight on the summer sporting calendar, the Ōpōtiki Rodeo is again promising plenty of action for riders and spectators on December 28.

Ōpōtiki Rodeo Association secretary Blair Collier is looking forward to a great show with 255 entries received.

He is thankful to all those who have worked hard to make the event happen.

“We have a talented line-up this year and it’s all thanks to our team and sponsors. Without them we would find it hard to make this even happen,” he said.

Back again are the premier events, such as the bull riding, as well as the saddle broncs, coupled with the return of the barrel race for the children.

The Ward brothers are looking promising in bull riding on the overseas circuit and are hoping for a good showing in the Ōpōtiki arena.

There are also the Halley sisters, who won the team roping last season and are coming back to hopefully smash it out again.

There will also be plenty of entertainment for young attendees with a bouncy castle, swings, electric jeeps, and lots of food stalls.

The action kicks off at 8.30am.
